This new collection of landscapes in oils on paper represents a novel direction for me, and one which I have found inspiring. I have sought to create work which is an expressive response to, rather than a realistic representation of, the beautiful and varied landscapes of this wildlife haven close to my home in Lewes.
Making sketches which I have developed into abstracted compositions, I have used expressive colour and bold shapes to convey the impression of the unfolding spring. I am deeply interested in the power of colour, and exploring dynamic colour relationships is the driving force in all my work together with strong line and composition.
